Dr Ifeoma Monye is a Specialist in Family and Lifestyle Medicine and is a certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician having passed the proficiency and specialisation exam organised by the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine in conjunction with the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine. A Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners, she enjoys her clinical practice, working in the UK and Nigeria.


Dr Monye is a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (since 2009), a European Lifestyle Medicine Organisation Ambassador (Nigeria, Africa since 2014), and a Founding member and Regional Director for the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine (since 2017).

From very early on in her career, she realised that the appreciation of the connection between the body, mind, lifestyle, the environment we live in, our social connections, all play a critical role in our state of health and wellbeing, enabling us to live our best life. This has underpinned her passion and practice of Family and Lifestyle Medicine for several years now. She has spent the last decade and half, providing Leadership in Nigeria in the field of Family Medicine as well as Lifestyle Medicine. She established the Department of Family Medicine in Abuja, Nigeria, a centre for the Post Graduate training of doctors.
Following her training at the Joslin Diabetic Centre and Harvard Institute of Lifestyle Medicine, the Health and Wellness Coaching with WellCoaches USA and training with the highly rated ‘Women Transforming Leadership’ course at the SAID Business School ,University of Oxford, in 2014.

She founded the first Centre For Lifestyle Medicine in Africa: The Brookfield Centre For lifestyle Medicine, Abuja, Nigeria, an organisation that is dedicated to working in strong collaboration with experts and institutions, to make Lifestyle Medicine a house hold name in Nigeria, through creation of awareness of Lifestyle Medicine, Clinical practice, Research, Advocacy, provision of Education to both healthcare providers and the public, inspiring and educating children in schools to live healthier lives. She has since completed a targeted training in Leadership and Management in Health with the University of Washington, Department of Global health E-Learning. She is the Publisher of the Lifestyle Medicine magazine, “Lifestyle Choices”, and the Founding President of the Society of Lifestyle Medicine of Nigeria. She is currently leading the drive to establish the Africa Lifestyle Medicine Association, ALMA, an organisation that will pioneer the spread of Lifestyle Medicine all across the continent of Africa, as it partners with the rest of global associations.

Most recently, she participated in reviewing the curriculum of the world’s first free, accredited , post graduate certification in Lifestyle Medicine: an online Lifestyle Medicine course for Primary Care Physicians created by Dr Lilach Malatskey and available in the NextGen U higher education portal. Dr Monye has Co-Authored a Paper in Developing Lifestyle Medicine Education in Africa, presented at the CUGH- Washington, DC.
Dr Monye is a strong advocate of living the life we preach and living our best lives yet, while helping others live their best lives too.


Dr. Charles A. Cudjoe qualified as a Medical Practitioner from Athens University School of Medicine, Athens. His Internship was at the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan while his Residency in Surgery was at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (Surgery Department) and the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Surgeon of Edinburgh Scotland.

He obtained a Masters in Public Health (MPH) degree from Boston University School of Public Health in Boston and a two and half years Fellowship in Behavioural Medicine at Harvard Medical School, (MBMI Beth Israel Medical Centre) Boston, Massachusetts. USA

From 1996 - 1999 he was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Harvard University Mind/Body Medical Institute in Boston Massachusetts working with Professor Herbert Benson, where he acquired extensive knowledge in Stress Management, Mind/Body and Behavioural Medicine.

He was the first recipient of the Daniel G. Holbrook Research Fellowship in Behavioural Medicine at Harvard Medical School.  He is a Member of the American College of Physician Executives.


He founded the Byron Institute in Boston in 1998 with a group of American Scholars, and the Nigerian Branch was launched in September 2001 with him as the President and Chief Executive Officer.


Since the Byron Institute’s inception in Nigeria, Dr. Cudjoe has organised Corporate Health Programs on Stress Management that provides valuable information on the Importance of Stress Management. He emphasises how stress affects an individual’s well being especially in the prevention of strokes, heart attacks and diabetes. Included is Financial stress management and self-care skills, appropriate nutrition and exercise all of which are focused on building healthy communities by recommending population based preventive/intervention strategies to stress, hence, reducing diseases, disabilities and early deaths of executives in their prime age.


Dr Charles Cudjoe is the founder of the Abuja Philharmonic Orchestra and the immediate past National President of the Guild of Medical Directors, Nigeria.

Dr Obianma Onya

Dr. Obianma Nneka Onya is a Chief Consultant Family Physician as well as the current Deputy Chairman Advisory Committee (DCMAC) in charge of National Health Insurance Scheme & Service Delivery at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) in Rivers State, Nigeria; a Lifetime member of WONCA and SOFPON (Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria); and a Life Fellow of the West African College of Physicians and Examiner in the Faculty of Family Medicine.

In April 2014, she delivered a lecture on “Overview of Lifestyle Medicine at the 36th AGSM of the Association of General & Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria (AGPMPN).As Chairman of SOFPON (Rivers State Zone) she delivered the keynote lecture on “Smoking Cessation & the Family” at the WONCA World Family Doctor Day commemorated in Port Harcourt on 19th May, 2016.

Passionate about research, she took part in the multicentre study in 2017 (on Body Weight Perception and Weight Management of Overweight/Obese Patients Seen at Primary Care Settings) organised by the Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria (SOFPON) National Practice-Based Research Network.

Recently, she became a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) and a foundation member of the African Lifestyle Medicine Association (ALMA).  Worthy of note is that the Medical and Dental Consultants of Nigeria (MDCAN), UPTH branch recently appointed her the Chairman of the MDCAN Health Promotion Committee.

It is against this enabling background that she was instrumental in setting up one of the first Lifestyle Medicine clinics in a Nigerian public health institution in January, 2018. The latter is domiciled at the NHIS/Staff Clinic. The first Lifestyle Medicine Clinic was set up at National Hospital, Abuja by Dr. Ifeoma Monye, the founder of the Society of Lifestyle Medicine of Nigeria.Currently, she is writing an article on “The Pattern & Determinants of Compliance with Lifestyle Modification Measures Prescribed to Adult Hypertensive/Diabetic Patients attending the UPTH Family Medicine Clinic”.

She is happily married to her heartthrob, Dr. Reason Onya PhD, a former Rivers State Commissioner for Urban Planning and Physical Development. Together, they have 4 beautiful children, 3 of whom aspire to become doctors.

General Secretary: Dr Mimi Osanwoyi

​Dr Mimi is a passionate doctor who has distinguished herself in her pursuit for excellence in healthcare delivery.She graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Medical College and has since pursued her specialist training in Internal Medicine at the National Hospital , Abuja. She is a member of the West Africa College of Physicians.

Her keen interest in the health of not just the individual, but the populace, led her to do a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health and then a Masters in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.


Dr Mimi is an active member of several associations including the Nigerian Medical Association, the Medical Women Association of Nigeria, the Nigerian Society of Neurological Sciences, the American Academy of Neurology and the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society.

She is an entrepreneur and business executive and enjoys speaking at several fora, teaching about healthy living and lifestyle.


She enjoys playing the Saxophone (Alto) ,golf and horseback riding.

Treasurer: Dr Ifeoma Fagbemi

Dr. Ifeoma Nkechi FAGBEMI (nee Udolisa), a seasoned medical practitioner, is a 1988 graduate from the School of Medicine, University of Benin, Nigeria. She holds a Master of Public Health (Community Medicine) from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTM & H) from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.

In addition, she has acquired cognate skills through series of certificated capacity building programs for healthcare service delivery as a First Responder, the provision and management of Public Health in Complex Emergencies, and Integrated HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care and Treatment. Others include the trainings to acquire skills for Counselling, and for Strategic Leadership and Management.

Dr. Ifeoma Fagbemi is a recipient of the 1998 Warrington Yorke Medal for International Community Health, at the meritorious completion of DTM&H, University of Liverpool, UK.

With close to three decades of experience in the health sector, she has acquired considerable wealth of public sector based experiences. Her great passion for preventive, lifestyle medicine and promotive health have endeared her into participating in diverse non-governmental and pro-bono healthcare initiatives as additional means to contributing and facilitating a proper functioning and effective health systems that will enable Nigeria to improve her national health indicators. 

An analytic mind, with out of the box orientation and capacity, she is a seasoned facilitator cum researcher that seeks to connect dots for holistic problem solving and capacity to work with multiple stakeholders, even as a team player. Her knack for details, patience in dealing with ambiguity and making tough decisions, interpreting complex human dynamics and the sustenance of effective medical and healthcare delivery has further enhanced her capacity for strategic leadership and management skills; positioning her to bring medical expertise to the business side of healthcare.

Research Secretary: Dr Adelowo

Dr. Abiodun Adelowo is a medical practitioner, a lifestyle medicine physician, and a certified wellness coach that is passionate about the prevention, treatment and reversal of chronic diseases, especially among the corporate workforce, through science-based lifestyle interventions. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Lagos; a Post Graduate Diploma in Lifestyle Medicine from the prestigious St. Francis College, Hyderabad, India; and a Wellness Coach certification from the Spencer’s Institute, California United States. He is a double Masters’ degree holder in Public Health and Health Education (sub-specialization on healthy lifestyle).

He also holds a Diploma in Health Security, Safety and Environmental Management, and has been trained with certificates on Lifestyle Medicine and its related components from different noble institutions, including the Harvard Medical School; University of California; Vanderbilt University; University of Pennsylvania; University of Pittsburgh; and the Wellness Council of America.

Dr. Adelowo who has worked in diverse health promotion capacities for both corporate and non-governmental organizations is a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (since 2012), Wellness Council of America, and the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered). He is a recipient of the 2012 Hunponu O. Wusu Prize from the University of Lagos for his works on healthy lifestyle among corporate organizations.

He has written a book titled ‘Seven Steps to Health Life’, and many peer-reviewed articles and studies. He presently work as the Team Head of the Workplace Health Promotion Unit of his organization, and also consult privately on healthy living and lifestyle modification.

Publicity Secretary: Dr Nwaife

Dr. Nwife Akhator-Eneka is a Consultant psychiatrist with over 7 years experience in the field of mental health. She earned her Undergraduate degree at the University of Ibadan and completed her residency training at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Yaba, Lagos. She works in Synapse services Abuja as the clinical lead and is the assistant National coordinator of Reconnect a non-governmental organization which provides support for the mentally ill and those with substance use disorders. She is a lifestyle medicine core advocate, and has earned a certificate in Lifestyle Medicine: Tools for Promoting Healthy Change organized by the Harvard medical school.


She has received series of trainings in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from the Becks Institute of Cognitive Behavioural therapy. She is a member of Toastmasters international, the secretary of her club and has received the competent communicator recognition. She is dedicated to tackling the root causes of mental illnesses by harnessing the power of the lifestyle approach to mental health care.

She is a mother and a wife. In her spare time, she learns the German language.



Dr Adewole Babatunde is a Family Physician with special interest in Lifestyle Medicine. He is a Member of the West African College of Physicians, Faculty of Family Medicine. 

His interest in the principles of Lifestyle Medicine dates back to his childhood interest in the role nutrition, exercise, sleep and hygiene in health and well-being. He pursued his undergraduate medical training at the University of Ilorin with a desire to be able to lend a voice to healthy living and practice. His residency training in Family Medicine was borne out of a desire to be at the frontline of healthcare provision, thereby advocating healthy lifestyles and various levels of prevention. It was during his residency that he first heard the word Lifestyle Medicine which he felt perfectly described his life-long dream. He currently works at the Brookfield Centre For Lifestyle Medicine, Abuja

Publicity Secretary (Medical Officers , new graduates & Medical Students): Dr Chibuike Ozor

Dr Ozor Chibuike Innocent was born on the 15th of May,1984 in Okpatu,Udi LGA of Enugu State.He attended Onilekere primary school Ikeja,where he got his FSLC as the best graduating student and best student in English language in Ikeja Local government area in 1994/1995 with a scholarship to cover his secondary Education which never saw the light of the day.


He has his secondary Education in St. Joseph Secondary school,Agege,Lagos, where he also graduated as the second best student in the school in the 2001 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination(SSCE). He got admitted to read Medicine and Surgery and graduated in 2010


He also has Diploma certificate in Pediatric Nutrition with Boston University school of Medicine sponsored by Nestlé Nigeria in 2015- 2016.


At present,he is a resident Doctor in the Department of internal Medicine at the Federal Medical centre Asaba,Delta State and His love for preventive/Lifestyle   Medicine as the best healthcare solution for African wing to their low socieconomic status and inability to afford Medicare services drive him to pursue a in Public Health(MPH) at the University of Nigeria,Nsukka (in view).


He is an advocate of Lifestyle Medicine and has an undying penchant for its official birth in Nigeria.He is a member of the African Lifestyle Medicine Association(ALMA) as a regional Liason officer/Public relations for West African Medicals and Undergraduate Medical Students and a member of the Society of lifestyle medicine of Nigeria as a Liason officer/PRO.

He is married to the most precious woman on earth as a wife, Mrs Somtochukwu Ozor and blessed with a daughter.
